Hola,
Gosh. I remember in July 1997 when the handover happened like it was only 22 years ago, and enjoyed devouring so many adventures set here (especially in some of my favorite comics such as
Bullet and
2000 AD,) but I never expected to visit and see Hong Kong in person.
That is, until my dear love, Mirjam, handed me the best 50th birthday present. Ever.
We jumped on a 747-400 series (totally looked that up while we waited to board - thank you, Wikipedia) Tuesday and now we're in Kowloon for 6 days.
Holy crap, Batwoman....
I can't wait to share some crazy pictures with you, dear readers...
... And to you, Mirjam.... I have the best friend, working partner and lover. (with the best working desk ♡)

First 2 minutes on the streets of Hong Kong... Impressed with this cabbie's "can do" attitude:) |
|
Well, I did ask the bartender for a local brew! |
|
We originally thought these were gaudy, but well-priced, only to find out it's HKD 4,328 *per gram* #Yikes ! |
|
The famous "Ladies Market" has anything and everything for sale... |
|
... including 5 T-shirts for HKD 10 (about $1.20/1 euro) Christmas presents: Done:) |
|
Saw this in the private alley between restaurant and toilet. Didn't see the pool! |
|
When it rains, it umbrellas... nearly got stabbed in the eye 20 times :) |
|
As the evening approches, the lights come on... |
|
... And I presume the air-conditioning cranks up as the humidity kicks in... |
|
Looking down, my first thoughts were it's a scene from Bladerunner |
An amazing first day ends alongside my very own beautiful and super-cute wonder woman :) |

Now that is an amazing birthday gift! Have an adventurous time. And yes, it does look like a scene from Blade Runner.
Said it before, say it again: You are one blessed fellow. How was the beer?
