Of 9,000 miles in 75 Hours - Monday Musings

Hola,

Oh this will be a short one as I sit in a Herndon, VA, hotel room at 04:33 with annoying acquaintance, Jet Lag, beside me.
My 3 sleeping boys are in the bed above me as I enjoy the extra blanket and steal the duvet cover (after I missed the part in the booking process that the hotel has no fold-out beds!)

The main point of this post is to share a cool stat: I sincerely love my 3 boys because I'm in the middle of traveling nearly 14,000 km (+/- 9,000 miles) in 75 hours to pick them up and bring them to Spain for a month (and it’s  going to be *so* much fun opening their eyes to the fact there is no GameStop or McDonald's on every 4-way junction:)

One asked if they could have a proper meal before we leave later as "there's no good Spain food" and "could we get face masks because everyone in Spain smokes?"

Er.... No.

Watch this space as 3 beautiful, kind, loving (but oh so terribly spoiled American) boys have the eye-opening time of their lives:)

A whole month - you guys just enjoy! Yes, they are in for a surprise. But kids absorb and adapt so much faster than we adults.

I believe the stat is that only 33% of Americans have a passport and even fewer will ever travel outside the States. The education they're going to get over the next 4 weeks can never be taught in any school.

How wonderful! I'm so glad you'll be spending time with your boys. As the mother of a houseful of them, I can tell you that little boys thrive by spending time with their loving fathers.

Enjoy them to the max. As they will enjoy you.

"Everyone smokes..."? When I was a kid, I might have felt that way about their food too, but I have loosened up in my old age...

I know smoking has been banned in lots of Europe, hope Spain is one. I do hope they learn to love Spanish food. It's a lot better than we often get here. I hope they don't sell pizza anywhere near where you live LOL. Have a wonderful month.

Hey Mark....

You are giving your kids something so incredible. Living abroad in a new country and learning so many new and wonderful things. They may not appreciate it now, but they will someday. They will certainly give you a row, but after a while I'm sure they'll settle in and have a great time.

If anyone hasn't told you lately....You're an AMAZING dad!
