Aloha,
It’s Insecure Writer’s Support Group today, led, as always, by Alex J. Cavanaugh.
As is my wont, I'm keeping it simple.
Simple insecurities simply make me think I can handle them easier.
Simple solutions for a simple guy.
I'm heading to San Diego next week to once again participate in the Southern California Writers' Conference. This is my go-to conference, and I'm excited for several reasons, mainly because this time I'll be attending as a published author, now that REVIVAL is safely out there in the world.
However, this also means I'll be submitting sample chapters of separate novels to several agents -- and for the first time I'm submitting fiction that is all me.
No more memoir-writing.
No more "hiding" behind someone else's story.
It's time to walk the walk, and we'll see how my writing is received.
What could possibly go wrong?

You might scare a few agents in that cap.
You proved you can write. Now, go dazzle them!
Don't listen to Alex—your cap is awesome. Plus, you shouldn't need it in San Diego.
Best of luck with the agents. I'm sure you'll do great!
What a thrill to go to a conference as a published writer. Yay, you! Best of luck.
Soak up the ambiance as a published author and have fun. They'll love your writing!
Uh, I agree with Alex, lose the hat! :)
I'm excited for you. Make sure you tell us all about it and good luck. They have to love you.
That picture said everything Mark. We're were for you and best of luck. Shared on Linked in and connected that to twitter. :)
Hi Mark - how lovely .. that Conference will be fun - and taking some of your Memoir books along with you - great promotional tool. Good luck with your submissions .. and yes as Alex said .. I'd take that cap off!!
Cheers Hilary
Do you get the feeling that people don't like your cap? Myself I think it would go very well with the coconut bra - if you were planning to wear that to the conference.
Have a heap of fun, oh published one.
What could go wrong? Do you want a list? You're talking to a bunch of insecure authors here...
Seriously though, I'm sure it will be fine. Worst thing that could happen is that they say no. But there's always a chance someone says yes...

That sounds really exciting. Best of luck.
Best of adventure to you!
It's an exciting time for you. I hope you enjoy your adventure at the conference and your work is appreciated by the agents, as it should be.
It's always scary to share fiction that's more or less the finished product, especially when it's someone in the industry. Everyone's been through the same fears though, so try not to let them overwhelm you. Good luck!
Congrats on going as a published author, sounds exciting. The worst they can do is say NO, but that just builds your writer's cred. What is a writer without rejection anyways right?
Best of luck and fun,

I'm cheering for you. Yes, go for it!

Congratulations on being a published author. Enjoy the conference! I've submitted pages before at conferences for critiques, and I've learned that the best way to get through it is not to aim for compliments (even though they're very nice to get) but to just hope to get honest good feedback on how to make my story better.
What fun. Its good to let all that Mark out into the world, lol. Good luck at the conference.
Nothing. You're going to rock this!! Have fun and best of luck.
Normally I would say that's a loaded question but for you I'm sure it will all go well. Good luck!!
Good luck in sunny CA! I hope something get's picked up for you! I love the cap, and the look!
Good luck and have fun!
I've never been to a writers conference. I'm a little jealous!
Good luck at the conference! Dazzle them with... well, with what you have ha!
Submitting is always nerve-wracking! Good luck!
You had me at Aloha but I wrote something about Hawaii once. Anyway, good luck at the conference. Wish I could attend but last time I attended a conference I left a bit bruised. Stay strong!
So cool, enjoy the conference! I just attended the San Francisco Writer's Conference:)
