Jan 10, 1989 - now = 25 years of adventures :)

Aloha,
Me, my hair and I (circa July 1989)

I was about to close down and head to sleep when I saw the date: Jan. 10, 2014.

Oh my gosh...

That day has always had a special meaning, because it was Jan. 10, 1989 when I sprinted from left my hometown of Dublin, Ireland "for just a couple of months."

The idea was I would spend time with family members who live close to Amsterdam, Holland.

I'd experience a new culture, hopefully the jobs situation would pick up and I'd move back to Dublin.

Right.

I was nineteen, Amsterdam was a mere fifteen minutes away... and it's now exactly twenty-five years since I lived in Ireland... wow ...

I won't bore you with any (more:) of my goings on between the two dates, but thought it would be fun to share this silly anniversary - and warn everyone that what is here today may not be hair tomorrow :)

Happy weekend everyone :)

Serving me Da another Heineken at Van der Valk in Volendam :)

You certainly had the 80's hair down pat!
Few months became a few years, didn't it? What was it Bilbo Baggins said? Be careful going out that door because you never know where the path will take you?

Mark, you look much more distinguished now! Really! Who could ever take anyone seriously with that 80s hair?

Time stinking-flies, doesn't it?

Seems just the other day I moved from Texas to Florida. I feel like a Florida cracker now.

I spent many a day in Dublin when I lived in N. Ireland years ago. My you did look different then, but we all change as the years fly by.
Have a good week-end.
Yvonne.

Great hair, dude! I loved my short visit to Dublin. Lovely place. You've never been back?

And now you're in Hawaii. I'm kinda sad you didn't share the in between.
:D

Visiting your homeland is on my bucket list. I've been to Hawaii and love it too but I can't afford to live there.
You should share some of the in between story and accompany it with hair progressions that go along with each time frame.

I have hair envy.

I admit to being adventurous back in 1989 as well--certainly lots has changed for me since then.

Would you go back? To the time or the place?

Hi Mark! After I saw your comment on Losing Sanity, I had to pop over here. I'm sorry I haven't stopped by in way too long. Love this story, and I'm thinking like Donna K. And this post goes with your comment a bit....time flies so fast...I'm glad you're one of the great guys who takes time to smell the roses, pay it forward, and write a blog!! :)

Oh. My. Gosh!!!!! You handsome devil!!!! Mark, I love it. And I love dates and the significance of dates. It's really fun to get little details of your life every so often. You really have lived a tale, and I want the whole thing start to finish!

Mark, this may be my new favorite pic in the blogosphere. Ah, the 80s. :) Fun way to commemorate 25 years of memories, too.

Gotta LOVE the 80's!!!

Never pictured you as a redhead, Mark! I envisioned you with dirty blond or sandy hair.

God only knows I had my spiked to within an inch of its life at the peak of my modeling career in '89... LOL.

WHOA... has it been 25 YEAR!!!! DANG!

This time I'm going to be last!
That was some hairstyle. Bless!
I think you look better now. That's the thing with men: they always improve with age, whereas we women just wrinkle!
It's good to get around during your lifetime.
I'm off now to look for your email address, as I need some help!

This visit was worth it just to see the hair. ;)

Interesting photo, a precursor to the Mohawk?

And what about your Kona coffee? It's a very nice coffee, but expensive here. . .I think Murchies Coffee used to import it.

Hi Mark - twenty five years .. and so much has happened .. the Berlin Wall hadn't even come down! Lovely hair though .. what made you become a baldy .. 'cept lack of it?!

Hawaii is a great place to be .. but I wonder if you feel like I did in South Africa - rather out on a limb and too far from civilisation ... mind you with the kids that'll keep you grounded!

Great reflections! Cheers Hilary
