For whatever reason [I'm a lazy bum] I really did suck at achieving many goals in 2014.
Out with the old...Sunset on O'ahu, Dec. 29, 2014 |
Now, don't get me wrong, it wasn't a *bad* year, but more of a quaffable year, definitely not a year I would put on my shelf and wait ten years before thinking.
I sit here tonight on a patio by a beach cottage we're staying in... thinking about the last few New Year's we've spent here and knowing this will be our last.
2015 brings a whole new set of challenges... we'll be moving to Virginia soon (+/- 90 days), so there's the whole deal with finding a house, school, pub, wineries... you know, the usual stuff.
But, it's going to be okay.
Anyone in the military reading this is just nodding and going, "yup, been there, moved here."
We've been *blessed to have spent four Christmases in Hawaii and while I don't know where next Christmas will be, I know it will be surrounded by love.
So, no New Year's resolutions for me... I'm going with the Revolution.
It's time for change -- and that includes my blog name, too :)
Happy New Year to you and yours -- and golly gee whiz, may *all* your dreams, hopes and aspirations come true.
Write on, dude.

I will be sad not to see your Hawaii posts anymore. And I'll have to completely redefine my vision of you to think of you in Virginia. I know moving is hard (we're about to move to Denver, Colorado) but as long as the family is together anywhere can be home. Here's to a great year for both of us.
Wineries... good to see the priorities are still there. Schools and houses are everywhere, wineries need searching for! I hope you have a great year in a great new area :-)
May 2015 be a marvelous adventure.

Virginia???
It could be worse, I suppose. If I were in Hawaii, they'd be dragging me out...
Awwww good luck with your move and hope 2015 is a good year for you and your family :)
Wow. Hawaii to Virginia? Ewww. I know that you have no choice in the matter, so it's best to look on the bright side. I guess you'll have hills and seasons (do you like snow?) and fun accents. I wouldn't show them your coconut bra cuz I'm not sho' they'll see the humor.
Mark:Our son plans on moving back to Indiana, from Kansas, this spring, He will be coming in to search out the town he wants to live in and then give notice to his landlord. He has to give two months notice on his lease. All this is new to me. Blessed New Year to you and yours.
Happy New Year. Anywhere which houses love and laughter can be a home. And you have both in a generous abundance.
Love Virginia but didn't know you were moving. How come? Now I won't have a friend living in HI any more.
Hi Mark - big changes ... those sound like fun times .. different challenges - new friends, and then the Army - yes you never know ... good luck with all the ancillary bits as well as the move .. bet the kids will miss the beach etc - but new experiences for them ... Enjoy 2015 .. cheers Hilary
VIRGINIA?! Sheesh! If it makes you feel better, I live in Delaware! No? Okay. LOL
My best friend moved to Portland from Hawaii, and she was maaaad. lol Apparently it gets below 20 in August there.
That's a big move. I would be sad to leave Hawaii behind but the cost of living should be less in WV. Can't wait to see what name you come up with.
Best wishes to you and your family, Mark. I hope your move goes smoothly and you manage to find all those necessary landmarks, pub, school, home, etc. Wishing you a happy, healthy, blessed New Year.
Such a deep share Mark. I'm speechless. All the best wherever you go.
You'll be in my neck of the woods, but I'm hoping to move to the Northwest this year - so not for long! Funny the comings and goings, new challenges and great changes. Good luck, moving's a pain, but once it's done new adventures await!
I'll be looking for you! :)
Happy New Year!
Mark, I hope 2015 is a great year for you and your family. Best wishes with the upcoming move.
Here's wishing you a great time in Virginia! I'm sure you'll enjoy it there too
Good luck with the move. I hope you enjoy Virginia!
I lived in Virginia as a kid and loved it there.So...what cool new blog title are you thinking of?
Seriously, you'll enjoy Virgina. There's a lot to do and see. We were stationed there at NAS Oceana. The nice thing about that area was being close to Virginia Beach and not far from the ocean or going the other way and hitting Sandbridge to swim. Now, it's not as nice as swimming in the oceans around HI, but it's warm and nice. I've also lived in Northern Virginia up near Fairfax and McLean. DC isn't far away and lots to see there as well. Take some time to explore the Blue Ridge mountains. Lots of nifty craft shops but the best is the views. Gorgeous. And Mark? There are plenty of pubs, lol!
Which base in Virginia will you be stationed? April is a good time to move to that area. Cherry trees will be blossoming and it be spring. Thankfully, the Navy will come in and pack you up and move you out. I always liked that about moving while in the military. Still stressful but a lot easier than doing it all on your own. :-)

Oh, wow.... you're leaving Hawaii! BEFORE I got to visit you... BOOOO!
Well, you'll be dealing with the cold an snow soon enough. It's lovely 5 degrees here in Chicago. Of course, Virginia is not as cold BUT it does snow....
Wishing you and your family a wonderful, safe, happy, and healthy new year!
Virginia is beautiful too. Colder though. I'd like to wish you a Happy New Year. We moved here from Chicago about 7 years ago and I sure don't want to do it again, but it is an adventure.
You know what? You're gonna kill it this year. No not the grass skirt in the Fire kill it hit do amazing. Getcha some!!!!
Please don't change it to screw you from DC.
