Why I Missed IWSG...(the 8,000-word* post :)

Aloha,

Ok, so you know how a picture tells a thousand words?

Well, I've eight pictures to share, but based upon the title of my post, now I'm not sure anyone will stop by !!!

However, if you are reading this, thanks :)

See, I have a very good reason why I missed IWSG by A. Lex Cavanaugh for the first time in more than a year...

Take it away, Pics....

...We decided to spend a few days at the end of the year, here at a beach cottage...

"Kermit," the Hawaiian Monk Seal
...When we arrived Friday afternoon, our soon-to-be buddy, Kermit, was chill-axing on the beach - about two hundred feet from our front door.

While we unpacked, he lay there, all happy inside his 150-foot roped-off buffer zone, and was still there after we left the following Wednesday morning.

(It's obviously a hard job to be a Monk Seal - but as there are only 1,000 left in existance, it's great to know they are being protected by a group of awesome volunteers who man the Hawaiian Monk Seal Response team.

Sunrise at Barbers Point, Oahu, Hawaii

The next morning, I woke up and this ^ was the view from the front door... (that's Kermit just off the beach on the lower left hand side.)

Later, I had the chance to have a ball cap "placement session" with No. 2 Son...

Papa, this hat is so becoming of you!
...And enjoy a facial massage...

Don't worry, Papa, I'm a trained professional

...While celebrating the beginning of 2013...

From our beach to yours :)

...but the main reason we went to Barbers Point was to celebrate the FIRST birthday of No. 3 Son who turned one on New Year's Eve...

What? I've turned one? Already? Ah, man, I need a nap...

Luckily, we got to see a few Rockin' Sunsets...

When I grow up, I want to be Alex's stunt-silhouette :)

...And spent some quality family time together...

Mom, did Papa really write an 8,000-word post?

Thanks for making it to the end of my 8,000-word post and I know it's already the fourth, but wishing you a very happy, healthy and successful New Year:)

I think that was a good excuse.
Don't ever let it happen again though. Kermit will turn on you.

Best excuse I've ever read! Your son definitely looked like a trained professional! I think I need one of those facials and one of those sunsets! Stat!
Happy bday son no.3 and Happy New Year Mark and family!

Beautiful pictures! And I love the sunset/silhouette picture!

And how can you possibly feel insecure in a place like that?

That's it! IWSG meeting in Hawaii!!!

Stunning and heartwarming pictures Mark, what a wonderful way to bring in the new year and celebrate a birthday! And in France if you remember, we get a whole month to wish folks a happy new year. (: And I totally second Dianne's idea, IWSG meeting in Hawaii! I so want to meet Kermit, we could all use some of his zen attitude.

Hah! Great excuse. At least you provided the photographic evidence...sort of like a note from the Dr.
Looks like you had a wonderful time!

That monk seal is kinda cute. I wish I could just fall asleep on the beach like that. No worries.

Happy New Year.

I'm glad your son had the opportunity to see a real live monk seal up close.

I admit, I was concerned with the title but I took my chances and made it through the 8000 word post without any problem.

Those are some awesome pics! Definitely explains why you missed the IWSG!

Happy new year!

Oh I absolutely loved this post! First, I'm racked with beach-envy. Thanks for that. Second, your kids are just too cute, Mark. I want to nibble their cheeks, and of course, I mean that in the most loving Grandma kind of way. Finally, since it's -20 here this morning I have beach-envy (Oh wait, I led off with that didn't I?)

Unbelievable beauty, (your sons) and the sunsets were nice too.

Such wonderful family photo's -- envious? Yes!

Vacation, on a beach....AWESOME!

If you're trying to make me feel sorry for you over your tardiness, you're sorely mistaken. I am totally green with envy and that most certainly is an Irish pun.

And you do have some real cuties. Those boys are adorable!

As I'm guilty of writing a few 1000 word posts myself, I'm in for the long haul no matter what!

Great pictures, all of them! They'll help me stay warm on these long cold winter nights. :)

Happy New Year, and Happy Birthday to No. 3 son!!!

Stunning pictures, that sunset is so lovely. No wonder you couldn't drum up any insecurities, no one could on that beach! Happy New Year :-)

Awww. Great pics! :)

You sure cut it close with your 3rd tax deduction, there. LOL Our last two (the twins) came with a few days to spare. That January was the first year I actually looked forward to doing my taxes. hahaha

Happy Birthday, #3. :D

This was the best 8,000 word post I've ever read. (have I read an 8,000 word post before this? *shrugs*)

Happy New Year, Mark!
