Of Contests and Spam (the Food:)

Aloha,

Hey, it’s a new day, and a new dollar, so I wanted to again say thanks to Lillie McFerrin who last week sent over a couple of awards, including the Liebster and the Kreativ.
During my post Friday, I shared six things – per the rules – and being a rule-breaker, I made a minor change when I listed six Little Whoppers, but only one was true…
And, in true Daytime Game Show fashion, the correct answer is …. “We’ll reveal the answer folks, right after this message from our sponsors:
The Truth Will Set You Free :)
We return you now to our scheduled programming...
The “winner” was #4, where I once replied to an ad for a staff reporter where applicants needed to have both a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in journalism.
I had neither – and still got the job.
(No one chose this one, but I’ll post that story another time.)
(Most everyone chose No. 3, the one where I “once jumped off a bridge into a dry canal thinking that the two old mattresses I placed on top of each other would break my fall.”)
(Actually, this one is *also* true, but in reality I jumped off the bridge onto only ONE mattress… nearly breaking my then-fourteen year-old ass in two :)
Anyway, here’s where I’d normally pass the awards to the next person… however, I’m holding off, because I’m still fairly new to Blogger – so I have no one I want to pass it onto.
Happy Valentine's Day

My apologies if I sound like a spazzed-out Grinch, but I *hate* winning an award/certificate/medal just for competing/participating.
I also don’t want to dilute the awesome pay-it-forwardness of these (and all other) awards by just passing them over the next person following me at Aloha Nation.

I did wander through my list of “active” followers, and feel I’ve given out the appropriate awards, which is why I want to “bank” the Liebster and Kreativ awards, and pass them forward the next time I’m “wowed.”
Does that make sense, or am  I not “getting” the point of the awards?
I'd love to hear your thoughts...

You jumped with only one mattress below you? Bet you won't try that stunt again.

Holy crap, holy crap... I'm not able to comprehend your crazy mattress stunt because I'm still getting over the spam revelation... I knew it! *shakes fist* ;)

The point of the awards are to pass them on to people you want to pass them on to. I'd say you've got it :-)

You know...the awards are basically just chain letters. That's cool that you got the job that you mentioned above, qualifications not withstanding.

You're awesome! And that is too cool about the job AND the jump! Oh, my word! Glad you at least had something under you!

I've said it before. You're awesome, Mark! I remember doing something like that once, jumping on a mattress. Jumped from a second story into a pool once, too. Yeah. Thanks not happening again anytime soon. :)

Okay, so I always go to comment on your blog and then it takes me to another page and I totally forgot what it was that prompted me to comment the way I want to and I gotta go back and read the post again, until I figure it out, then I'm like, oh yeah! then click to comment and forget again, lol.

I think it was something along the lines of if you had to wear a diaper cast, cuz that would've been awesome! And also awards don't have any rules really, lol. Just fun stuff people give to each other when they wanna spread the word about other awesome bloggers and stuff like that.

Or in my case, a chance for me to make a whole bunch of people uncomfortable with my potty talk :)

Whoa! This comment was long. Forgive my blabber mouth. :)

Mark that is what you get for being such an awesome blogger...you get like a thousand awards....

Congrats on the awards, and I think you get to give them to whomever (don't I sound hi-faluting), whenever you want! It's just nice to pass the love around, I think!

Congrats on the awards and yeah I consider them more of blog whoring for others..lol....Spam is made of people? I'm some glad I don't eat that.

Hehehe I know what you mean with awards, except for the opposite direction. I follow so many blogs and so many people follow mine that picking a few good blogs can become a pain in the backside.

That Spam sign made me laugh out loud!

Thanks for visiting my blog, and I apologize it took me so long to get over here for a visit. I hope you're enjoying Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - I'm almost finished so I went out and bought The Girl Who Played with Fire this weekend.

First, congrats on the awards.

Second, it's your award, so you can do with it what you want to.

But third, the point is to bring more followers back to your blog so if you do participate, the other blogs reference your blog and viola! New followers!!

That's usually how it works, especially the one that are for those bloggers with less than 200 followers.
