I’m participating in NHM (no-hyperlink-needed) Alex’s Top Ten Movie Countdown BlogFest.

Oh, the simplicity of it all.

I’ve highlighted a couple, which are perhaps not as well known.

If interested, the links will bring you to Yahoo! or Wiki info pages.

Braveheart is a great one. I haven't seen all of your top ten. I have a feeling I'll be making a list before the days out.

Dani said...

Ok, you and I have talked about "Brothers" and I was going to put that too but thought "oh that isn't technically a movie" crap I should have out it! Oh well at least it got a shout out here! Great choices! #'s 1 and 2 didn't make my list but they would have been 11 and 12.

The Shawshank Redemption is an amazing film indeed and I love Four Weddings. Most interesting list :).

Pat Hatt said...

Seen them all but facing the giants, may have to add that to my to view list.

Suzi said...

A Few Good Men and Shawshank Redemption are two I love also.

Elise Fallson said...

I know why you like Braveheart, because we all know "In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to God." *cough, cough* :D

Hart Johnson said...

Oh, you've got a great list. I had almost forgotten about the Commitments, but I love that one. (Soundtrack, too)

Shell Flower said...

Memento was so awesome. A lot of good movies here. I must see the Commitments one of these days.

Elizabeth Seckman said...

So many good ones...and even a few I haven't seen. I'll add them to my watch list!

What a great list Mark, I'm sorry that I missed a few of these, but Memento deserves a place in many top ten lists.

Great picks! I forgot to mention Facing the Giants - a great film!

Nice list, you are a man of good taste! This is only the third list I've been to but second mention of Shawshank, I get a feeling that is going to crop up a LOT.

Isis Rushdan said...

Nearly put A Few Good Men on my list. Braveheart was awesome as well. Loved your unexpected choices.

Shawshank was going to go on my list too. Just too many great movies to choose from! Four Weddings was awesome as well.

Rena said...

Oh, Shawshank is a good one. With all the great movies being bantered about, I'm going to have to go watch some movies tonight!

D.G. Hudson said...

Braveheart is one I like too. (it may be my Scottish background on both sides of the family)

Shawshank is loved by our whole family.

Nice list, Mark!

Love Shawshank Redemption and Four Weddings and a Funeral is one of those classic girl's weekends movies that never gets old. That and Love Actually.

Al Diaz said...

Braveheart nearly made my list. It would have been eleven I think. Such a great movie. I had to choose between that or 300. Leonidas won.

S.P. Bowers said...

Forgive my lack of education in the movie industry but I haven't seen any of those. Guess I'll need to try to catch up.

Unknown said...

Loved breaveheart and must see it again! :)

Nicole said...

Great list! I was just thinking of Braveheart last night. It's a classic.

Hilary Melton-Butcher said...

Hi Mark - great you put the Commitments in ... and then the Richard Curtis ones ...

It's been interesting to see everyone's list ... cheers Hilary

Mark Means said...

Great list....really enjoyed Memento!

Jeff Hargett said...

Cheater cheater cheater! :) My list would have looked a little different had I ranked the movies alongside a series. Maybe someone will do a Top Ten Series blogfest soon. (hint hint)

LD Masterson said...

Every time I visit a participating blog I see another movie I could have included on my list, if I'd thought of it. You reminded me of Four Wedding and a Funeral. The funeral alone makes that film worth watching.

Nice list.

LynnRush said...

Shawshank is a touching movie. :)

Nancy Thompson said...

Was never a big fan of Momento, and I don't know Facing the Giants, but all the others are fantastic & I've seen each one dozens of times.

(Psst, are you ever going to enable your blog for mobile devices? Without it, it's so hard for this old woman to read it on my iPhone. ;) Just a thought.)

Unknown said...

Nice list.

I love The Commitments... I haven't seen it for years though. I do, however, have the soundtrack on my Ipod!

Elsie Amata said...

Band of Brothers gets watched by the "men" at my house every summer. My daughter and I find something else to do while they enjoy their male bonding for a few days ha ha ha

Sheena-kay Graham said...

Really good list. Shawshank!!

Dani and Jax said...

Some really great flix on here Mark!
Dani is still needing that nap, and Jax is unable to make her take one, and yes, one of them is talking in third person. Can you guess who?
;)

kjmckendry said...

I can't believe I forgot about Braveheart! Oh and the Commitments was great too. I did have Schindler's List on mine.

Trisha said...

Haven't seen all these but love the ones I have seen! Great picks!

Krista McLaughlin said...

Shawshank Redemption is a great movie and I loved Facing the Giants - good list!

DL Hammons said...

Four Weddings and a Funeral started my addiction to British comedies. No surprise that Love Actually shared the same director. :)

Carrie-Anne said...

I've only seen Schindler's List and Band of Brothers. The few modern films I tend to like are the long, serious, intense historical dramas like that. Bonus points if it's a foreign film as well.

Emily Genther said...

First time I've ever heard of The Commitments. I'll have to check it out.

~Sia McKye~ said...

A Few Good Men was great. I loved it for a number of reasons, aside from a great cast, for one Nicholson captured well the...attitude... and the pride/arrogance of many I've seen. Very, very well.

There is only two movies on your list I haven't seen. I do applaud your taste, tho!

dolorah said...

Braveheart tops my list of all time favs, but I didn't list it this time b/c it didn't fit my plotting theme.

I loved Band of Brothers too.

Samantha May said...

Great list! Not sure how I could've forgotten Schindler's List. A great film indeed.

Anonymous said...

Interesting list. Definitely a few I haven't seen before on there. Will have to add to my "to watch" list. :3

Meradeth Houston said...

Fun list! I'll have to check out The Commitments. Four Weddings is a classic, and Memento was really cool!

Unknown said...

Shawshank would make my top 10 for sure. Love Actually would be on my top 10 romantic comedy list--probably near the top. :)

Printed Portal said...

Oh forgot to have schindler's list on my list - it is such a good movie.

Sabrina A. Fish said...

I'm not a big tv/movie watcher so even though I've heard of most of these, I haven't seen very many. I have to say, though, Shawshank would definitely have made my list, too!!

Tammy Theriault said...

i remember when band of brothers first came out on video. i rented the entire series and stayed up all day and night watching it. i was smitten!!

SpacerGuy said...

Great list Mark, Shawshank and Schindler's List take me back. I hear Memento is one to watch too.

Like your list a lot. Love Facing the Giants. Have you seen Courageous? The best. Memento was pretty good, wasn't it?
